Drupal Web Specialist, Bethesda, MD

Summary of Position:
This position will assist the Web Communications team with day-to-day maintenance and updates of the Client's websites using the Drupal 6 and 7 content management systems (CMS).  Working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, the Drupal Web Specialist will work closely with the Associate Web Project Manager and Web Content Manager in monitoring, managing and fulfilling/executing of site posting requests.  Candidate must have proven proficiency with Drupal CMS and HTML programming skills and experience with web-related project coordination.   
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors, processes and tracks web requests using online tracking tool.
  • Handles incoming site update and posting requests and ensures successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Responds to website inquiries and provides answers and guidance as needed.
  • Assists Web Content Manager with content overhaul (e.g., content review/removal, archive, metadata entries, etc.).
  • Performs high-quality assurance/control testing to ensure that information is accurately posted, all outdated content is removed and all implemented features are working effectively.
  • Works with Associate Project Manager and IT to diagnose and resolve technical site issues to ensure that website and CMS are operating effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborates with Graphic Design Team in the development of appropriate web-based graphics.
  • Adheres to and enforces all SOPs, policies and Web best practices related to the Client websites.
  • Assists with website development and redesign projects as assigned (e.g., content loading/migration, site testing, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with 5 years' experience or Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience, preferably in website design and development, computer science or related field.
  • Proven proficiency with HTML programming skills and Drupal CMS environment in editing and managing Web content.
  • Excellent debugging and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser consistencies and quirks and testing across multiple browsers, platforms and devices (i.e., smartphones and tablets).
  • Strong knowledge of Web standards and usability practices.
  • Understanding of Web analytics, search engine marketing/optimization and social media platforms.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well in a tight, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to successfully execute projects.
  • Knowledge with MS Office, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat and various media players.
